The new ZIMO MX10 Command Station is designed to be up-to-date in looks as well as with the equipment inside, with a well-styled housing. The physical dimensions are remarkably small considering the technical capabilities. This is especially apparent when compared with other clunky base stations, which also includes the previous ZIMO MX1. A digital system is defined by many characteristics, not just electrical power, and ZIMO has set new standards in many aspects (including some which are not easy to implement in model railroad equipment and are therefore rarely found, even though they are very useful). Examples are a socket for USB sticks, LAN port (which in the era of "i..." this and "smart" that are actually a "must"), or a small graphic display which shows just the information needed (although a display on the cab is actually cheaper), RAM with 64MB of flash memory and 4GB for data storage, to make the data management of large systems with extensive electronic equipment possible. The built-in display with a rotary knob and some buttons provides basic control functionality, so that certain basic functions of the MX10 can be operated without external control devices, such as cabs, smart phones or computers. These include basic driving and switching functions (set an address, speed control and switch setting), single line CV programming, software updates of ZIMO equipment (including the MX10 itself) and decoders, including the loading of sound projects. An additional external update device is no longer required. Primary DC power supply .......................................................................
